Home Delivered Meals
Volunteers deliver a nutritious noonday meal Monday-Friday to homebound adults
60 and over. Frozen meals are provided for participants where there is not
a meal route, shelf staple meals are provided when the center is closed
due to severe weather.

Transportation
RCSAA contracts
with RCATS Transportation to provide residents age 60 and over with
transportation services at no charge to the rider. These trips are usually
to a Senior Center, drug store, pharmacy, grocery store, doctor, etc. RCATS
also provides transportation services for all Randolph County residents.

Adult Day Care Services
Serving individuals age 18 and over who want to live at
home yet desire companionship or require assistance with daily
activities. Their goal is to provide activities that promote
dignity, self-esteem, mental and physical well being
in a structured environment. This program allows caregivers and families
the opportunity to work and have much needed time away from
caregiving during the day without having to worry about their
loved ones.
Well and Elderly Outreach
Senior programs, services and activities are planned for the senior adults in
outlying areas of Ramseur, Happy Hollow, Franklinville, Seagrove, Cedar Grove
and Farmer/Tabernacle. Seniors county-wide will enjoy the Senior Tour Adventures
which are bus trips planned with senior adults interests in mind.
Salt Box/Pepper Box
The Salt Box has a wide selection of handcrafted items made by seniors in
Randolph County. Items include baked goods, plants, pottery,
jewelry, and wood work. The sale of these items supplements seniors' income and helps the public appreciate local
talents. The Pepper Box is a thrift store which accepts clothes, household
appliances and other items for resale. Donations to the Pepper Box are tax
deductible.
Information
and Assistance Program
Information and Assistance provides information about services, programs or
assistance available to seniors age 60 and over. Trained personnel will
answer callers' questions or refer them to the appropriate resource. Serves
as a central access point for answers to questions and information about community
resources.

Monday - Thursday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.

Case Assistance
Offered to those persons age 60 and over who require a more intensive service
or who require additional assistance with negotiating the service delivery
system. It is the provision of referral, follow-up and advocacy activities
on behalf of the older adult and/or their families to ensure that needed
assistance is received. Case assistance may also include a home visit to
more clearly identify a clients' needs.

Sitter's List
The Sitter's List is made up
of caring people willing to sit, assist with homemaker chores, personal
care, errands, etc. This is an option for someone needing in-home
assistance and is able to pay out-of-pocket.

Rise and Shine
Rise and Shine is a telephone
reassurance program in Randolph County that provides shut-ins, older or handicapped individuals living alone,
daily contact with a concerned volunteer caller.

Senior Heat Relief Program
A limited number of fans are
donated by local power companies in June each year. Fans are
distributed to seniors in need of heat relief.

Prescription Assistance
This program assists seniors
locate free or discount prescription medication through pharmaceutical
companies. These companies limit their assistance to those within income
guidelines. Some will limit or not provide medication to those on Medicare.

Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
The Randolph County SHIIP Coordinators and trained volunteers are able
to provide help in choosing and enrolling in a Medicare Part D plan,
applying for Extra Help, or assisting with solving problems regarding
their plan. Volunteer consultants are trained by the NC
Department of Insurance. The program also provides guidance on Medicare
supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.

Caregiver Planning Assistance
This service is provided to
caregivers who care for someone age 60 and over. We offer guidance and
options on issues that arise with healthcare, medication management,
transportation and financial needs. This gives the caregiver peace of
mind.
Senior Advisor
The "Senior Advisor" is a monthly newspaper containing creative writing, poetry,
recipes, photography, informational and educational news submitted by local seniors,
agency staff and organizations interested in the education and well being of
senior residents.

Volunteers
RCSAA is always seeking persons for volunteer jobs. We welcome volunteers of
all ages, whether as an individual or as a group interested in helping. We
need persons to serve as sales person, telephone callers, clerical workers, Meals-On-wheels
aide and many more. Volunteer appreciation is expressed through a special
annual recognition celebration.
Eligibility
Residents of Randolph County who are 60 years or older, unless otherwise specified.
